Crazy about movies

Not knowing with what to do with the (however little) time I have in between my work and sleep, and being too tired to indulge in something that would involve more physical or cerebral activity (for example, soldering a new circuit or reading the latest Jhumpa Lahiri), I’ve chosen the most perfect of all lazy hobbies - watching movies.
The more I watch them, the more I feel that there is so much in the world to see, read, and to experience. You can look at the tiny bylanes of Tehran where you can buy freshly baked Naans in Children of Heaven, or experience the concentration camps in La Vita e Bella or Schindler’s list. You can admire a pretty but introverted girl in Amelie, or watch boxers struggle in Million Dollar Baby or Cinderella Man. You develop a crush on Arwen (wiki) in The Lord of the Rings, or on Holly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s but then you cannot expect to ever see them in real life.
Sometimes while watching a movie, just like a good book, I don’t want it to end - and sometimes I pray for the ending to be a happy one. I wonder what the characters in the movies do after the movie ends - do they live life with the same zeal, or do they become more laid back, now that we’re not watching them anymore?
I wonder.
Watching (nice) movies feeds my lust for creativity, and is a great way to end a tiring, crazy day at work.
Enchanted
I saw Enchanted today. The new movie by Disney studios.
It begins as a classic Disney fairy tale animation, where a pretty girl meets the prince, and they decide to marry. The evil queen however, is afraid of losing her throne to this girl, and sends her to - guess where - New York! From the animated world of the fairy tale, Giselle is sent to the real world where, as per the evil queen, ’no one lives happily every after’.
What follows is a very elaborate and cute episode of love, affection and innocence. If you like cute, simple movies, with witty dialogues and laughter, you’d love this one. It has been put forward so nicely, that at least once, the whole theatre burst into applause. How often does that happen?
It is also a sarcastic take on how we have complicated our lives and forgotten simple pleasures. You start craving for the world where there are no emotions like anger, jealousy, and deceit. I came out of the theatre smiling :)
But before you book your tickets, beware - if you like to look for too much logic, you might be disappointed. It is pure refreshment - topped with smiles :)
P.S. of course Amy Adams looks gorgeous :)
Shikhar
Its a movie. You might not have even heard about it - Ajay Devgan and Shahid Kapoor. Ajay Devgan plays a builder - a bad mean dirty fellow. Shahid Kapoor is a nice cute guy who Ajay Devgan makes friends with and spoils. Puts him into the habit of drugs, gambling and the sort.
I don’t know what happened after that ‘coz I could not bear it anymore.
Update: Managed to finish it. Not that bad afterall - typical Bollywood ishtyle masala with a social message. Don’t watch it. You can do without it.
